The specific epithet laetevirens means "bright green", referring to the colour of the foliage or culms.[1] It is an evergreen bamboo with long-necked pachymorph rhizomes, growing in montane forests of southwestern China at moderate to high altitudes.[1] The species is listed as an accepted name in Plants of the World Online.[3]
