Yushania maculata (Chinese: 斑壳玉山竹; pinyin: bān ké yù shān zhú) is a species of bamboo in the family Poaceae, first described by T.P. Yi in 1986 in the Journal of Bamboo Research.[2] It is native to Sichuan and northeastern Yunnan provinces in south-central China, growing in temperate mountain forests at elevations of 1,800–3,500 m.[3] The species is a significant food source of the giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) in the Liangshan Mountains[page needed], where pandas forage on it at lower elevations during winter and spring alongside Yushania ailuropodina.[4]
