Early Life, Debut, and Career[edit]
1995-2017: Early years, television work and NCT 127[edit]
Yuta Nakamoto was born in Osaka, Japan, on October 26, 1995. Through his childhood and adolescent years, he was an active person. He also used to be a soccer player from around 5 to 16 years of age.[2]
In 2012, when he was 16, Yuta participated in an audition for SM Entertainment that was held in Japan, hidden from his family. [3][4] His family didn't discover that he was auditioning until he passed, and had to move to South Korea. In an interview he said, "My mom was really surprised… then, I saw my dad cry for the first time. I may have been a little lonely because I was going to live away. But I was so focused that I don’t remember much about it. I also didn’t tell my sisters. I was a teenager so I was kind of embarrassed." He continued, "I was in a situation where I didn’t understand Korean at all so before I moved there I studied hard, even sticking Korean words in our bathroom walls." [4]
Yuta joined SM's predebut team, SM Rookies, in December 2013.[3] From August to October 2014, he was part of the EXO 90: 2014 program, [5] where he starred in remakes for "Hope" [6] and "Do You Know." [7]
In July 2015, Yuta was one of the participants of the JTBC Non-Summit program, replacing Takuya Terada as a representative of Japan.[8] He left the program on December 28 after announcing that he wanted to focus on his debut as a singer. [9]
2017-present: NCT 127 and NCT U[edit]
Between 2017-2020, Yuta focused on his activities with NCT 127. The subgroup released its extended play, Limitless, in January 2017.[10] A few months later, another extended play, Cherry Bomb was released in June of that same year, resulting in an increased popularity for NCT 127 and that of Yuta himself.
