Yvonne Ndaba[1] is a culturally oriented Zambian woman who promotes the values of the Tonga culture. She exerts her efforts in Southern Province of Zambia, where most of the Tonga people concentrate. She manages Mukanzubo Kalinda Research, a Cultural Resource and Community Training Centre. This centre is one of the Jesuit projects in Southern Province.[2] Every year, she attends the Chikuni Tonga Music Festival, a two-day annual event, which draws hordes of spectators. Initiated in 2000, this festival is aimed at preserving, celebrating and developing local cultures using traditional music. It is the largest music festival in Southern Province. During her six-month research on traditional music in various chiefdoms, she identified dancing groups which preserve "the wisdom of the Tonga people" through various performances.
