Development:[edit]
Background[edit]
After successfully crowdfunding the concept of ZED in 2016, Eagre Games partnered with well-known voice actor Stephen Russell and writers of Bioshock Infinite and Metal Gear Solid to develop the game's narrative.[1] Eagre Games then worked with Skymap Games to build the game.[2]
Plot[edit]
Players assume the role of The Dreamer, an ailing man struggling with dementia. Players are transported through different memories, experiences, and dreams while they try to piece together broken fragments of The Dreamer's life. The Dreamer struggles with memories of his family, career, and loss while trying to leave behind a lasting legacy for their infant granddaughter.[3]
Production[edit]
The development of ZED had several minor setbacks as Eagre Games struggled to fund the development process. After partnering with Cyan Ventures the development cycle was restarted and a release target of Spring, 2019 was set. ZED has been developed using Unreal Engine 4 for Windows, Linux, Mac, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive.[4]
