Zachari Halkias is an American politician who, at the age of 19, was elected as a Borough Council Member of Slatington Pennsylvania. This makes him not only the youngest person to ever hold such office, but also the youngest elected official in the entire state of Pennsylvania. A Republican, he has focused on two issues since entering office: securing funding for the pool at the Northern Lehigh Community Center, and increasing the number of parking spots in the Borough. His term began on January 1, 2022 and is set to expire December 31, 2023.[1]
Personal Life
Born in 2003, Halkias is the only member of his family, which has lived in Slatington for three generations, to enter into politics. He currently holds a High School Diploma from Northern Lehigh High School, but is also studying business at the Lehigh Carbon Community College. In addition to his political career, he is also a successful entrepreneur, running a secondhand furniture and antique shop called Reuse, as well as a photography business called Photo Life, and managing a residential property.[2]
