Zafar Azimov
Azimov Zafar Yakhyoevich (Tajik: Зафар Яҳёвич Азимов) is a Tajikistani and Russian businessman.
He is the owner of the international investment fund “A-Companies”,[1] the Russian company “New Group” and the Kairakkum Carpets plant in Tajikistan. The owner of the international investment company Zamwell Capital.[2]

The person is involved in investigations into the raider takeover of the Infaprim baby food plant in the Moscow agglomeration and the illegal withdrawal of assets of the Nutritek holding, an attempt to establish control over the Russian cement manufacturer Cementum (rebranding of Holcim group in Russia).
Biography
Zafar Azimov was born into Yahyo Azimov’s family. His father was the 6th Prime Minister of Tajikistan between 8 February 1996 and 20 December 1999.[3]
Zafar Azimov graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2004 and received an MBA from London Business School in 2021.[4]
Since the 2010s, he has been involved in entrepreneurial projects in Tajikistan and Russia.[citation needed]
In June 2021, at the Kairakkum Carpets enterprise, he received the Presidents of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.[5]
Criticism
Media have repeatedly pointed out the involvement of Zafar Azimov in the legalization of income of Tajik criminal ethnic groups.[citation needed]
The TV program “Moment of Truth” conducted a property theft investigation in the Nutritek holding, later Azimov appeared in criminal case No. 293190 about the illegal withdrawal of assets from this holding worth 2 billion rubles.[6]
In the investigation of the MK newspaper about the raider takeover of the Moscow region baby food manufacturer Infaprim, Azimov is mentioned as a nominal shareholder of the enterprise.[citation needed]
He controlled the Arcticservice company, which is engaged in the catching, processing and export of red king crab in the Barents Sea.[citation needed]
The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS) conducted an investigation, suspecting the company of cartel conspiracy, but Azimov urgently sold the asset, successfully withdrawing and legalizing the profits.[citation needed]
In September 2023, a government commission agreed on a deal to buy out the Russian production assets of the Cementum group of companies (formerly Holcim) from New Group JSC, which is controlled by Zafar Azimov. Member of The Russian Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights and Chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Committee Kirill Kabanov associates Zafar Azimov's interest in acquiring the Cementum group of companies with the fact that in the production of cement, poorly mixed raw materials during firing lead to the formation of coarse-crystalline lime in the clinker, which is considered a manufacturing defect, but serves as the main raw material for the most popular and cheapest Asian semi-drug – Naswar.[7]
