From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Zahrat Al Khaleej (Arabic: زهرة الخليج‎, lit. 'Gulf Flower' ) is the first women's lifestyle magazine of the United Arab Emirates.[1] It was launched in 1979.[1] It is published weekly by the Abu Dhabi Media.[2]

The founding editor is Abla Al Nowais, one of Arabs first women journalists,[3] who would later also become a media consultant to the presidential court.[4] From being a symbol and voice for female topics and activism, the magazine now also covers women in fashionable clothes and without veils, even while UAE is still largely conservative as a society.[3] The patronage of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his wife Sheikha Fatima enabled the magazine to grow.[3]

The circulation in 2016 was over 200,000.[5]
