Zavosh Zaboliyan ZAA-vosh, born May 5, 1990)[1] is a Canadian serial entrepreneur, record executive, and media proprietor. He has helped develop significant value in the startup ecosystem in various sectors. Over the years, Zaboliyan has been involved with a number of organizations with a focus on strategic partnerships to create sustainable growth. As a serial entrepreneur he deeply cares about solving world problems and scaling value to help shape a better future. Zaboliyan is a student of life with a natural talent for negotiations and building meaningful relationships.

In 2006, Zaboliyan founded "Majorize" his first company which produced audio products and operated a Record Label. His next company "Interscope" was subject of a trademark dispute with Vivendi (Universal Music Group's parent company) and settled after a long battle.[2]

In 2019, Zaboliyan was selected as a Canadian Delegate to attend the G20 summit in Japan part of G20 YEA (Young Entrepreneurs Alliance), a global network of more than 500,000 young entrepreneurs and the organizations that support them. In advance of the G20 Leaders’ Summit, the G20 YEA brought together hundreds of the world's top young entrepreneurs to advance youth entrepreneurship as a driver of economic growth, innovation and social change. Early life and Training[edit]

Zaboliyan grew up in North York, Ontario and graduated from George S. Henry Academy then went on to attend one of Canada's best entertainment management schools. At 19, he dropped out of college due to experiencing discrimination and racism throughout his studies. He pursued his music career working out of the Cherry Beach studio in Toronto where next door to him was another artist on the rise by the name of Drake. He continued working with many local talents and labels in the city where he got the opportunity to work on the main event of MMVAs as live audio assistant for the likes of Lady gaga, Nickelback, Jonas Brothers and few years later he co-managed an artist alongside managers of The Weeknd, while producing songs featuring Lil Kim, Styles P. and others.

In 2009, during the devastating earth quake that hit Haiti, Zaboliyan and a small team flew to the areas most hit by the earthquake to capture a documentary and help the kids at a local school. The documentary featured cameos of celebrities including Stacey Dash and Macy Gray. While working on developing artists in the music industry, Zaboliyan built his network and track record in the film industry through producing a number of projects that have gone to gain recognition at international festivals.

At 21, he sold all his belongings including his laptop to have enough money to go to Silicon Valley and pursue his entrepreneurship. He went straight to Menlo Park and walked in the offices of many venture capitals including Sean Parker and Roelof Botha from Sequoia to pitch his startup. After some time and running out of money, he returned to Toronto and created his next company Wavy Group. In just 3 months he grew the brand to over 35 stores across Greater Toronto Area and competed with major brands including G-shock. Since then he has co-founded several other startups and he's been involved in the production of more than 15 full-length feature films, while helping 100s of companies generate an estimate value of a quarter billion dollars.

Career[edit]

Music and Film[edit]

In the early 2000s, Zaboliyan became a music producer and sound engineer, getting mentored by John Love, Peter Bond and Orin Isaacs the musical producer of shows such as Canadian Idol and Hockey Night in Canada, among others. By 2008, and while Zaboliyan was still in High School he had completed over 3000 volunteer hours at studios across the city. He had also helped with writing the actual curriculum for the school and taught several semesters prior to graduating. He was given the honorary "Principal’s Award for Leadership" for his dedication and contributions. Leaving high school Zaboliyan teamed up with local artists to release several songs and music videos. This led to getting featured in an interview on Rogers TV for an album titled “Free Da City” with a message to stop the violence among youth and reduce gang related crimes that were going on at the time.

Zaboliyan directed the music video “Out of my head” for David Juliet in 2012. The video went on to receive a nomination by the official ballot of the Grammy Awards, under the category for Best Director.

In 2014, Zaboliyan worked on TV shows such as Hannibal, starring Mads Mikkelsen and Laurence Fishburne and the series Covert Affairs.

Zaboliyan was also responsible for developing and managing several artist brands including the Juno nominated musician "Jhyve". During this time, Zaboliyan co-wrote and executive produced the album “The Heartbreak Experience”.[4] He also co-wrote and placed one of the first songs for Jessie Reyez, titled "Hold your fire" that was later licensed to the producer London Future.

Business Career[edit]

In 2015, Zaboliyan co-founded Ekko Space Corp. which became a member of MaRS Discovery District and secured $360,000 in Azure Credits from Microsoft to develop a Digital Time Capsule application. The startup quickly gained traction from news outlets including feature articles in “Whats Your Tech”[5] and “The Daily Texan[6]

Zaboliyan is responsible for creating “JIMMI” the first Artificial Intelligence pop star in 2017. The project was privately demoed to several music industry executives at SOCAN, Warner and Universal.

In 2018, Zaboliyan Co-Founded “Click Payments”, a real-time payments application with features to chat and move money in a secure way. He grew the company to 8 million dollars in valuation just under 10 months with a 2 million dollar term sheet signed. [7]
