Zbigniew Maria Leonowicz (born 1963) is a Polish engineer and electrician. He studied electrical engineering at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. As of 2019, Leonowicz is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Wrocław University of Science and Technology..[1].
Education
Leonowicz graduated with a master's degree in electrical engineering from Wrocław University of Science and Technology in 1997. In 2001, he received a PhD with a doctoral thesis titled Advanced Methods of Spectral Analysis of Electrical Signals under the supervision of Tadeusz Łobos.[2] In 2012, Leonowicz habilitated on the basis of a series of publications Selected Problems of Time-Frequency Analysis of Electrical Signals[3].
Academic career
In 2019, Leonowicz received the title of professor of technical sciences in Poland[4]. He also received his second professorship in the Czech Republic in 2019, at the request of the VSB – Technical University of Ostrava[5].
Since 1997, Leonowicz has worked at Wrocław University of Science and Technology, successively as an assistant professor in 2001, associate professor in 2016, and full professor since 2019. He also worked as a research associate in the Laboratory for advanced brain signal processing at the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research in Wakō, Saitama, Japan from 2004-2005[6], at Roma Tre University, Rome, Italy under the EDEMOM European Doctorate in Electronic Materials, Optoelectronics and Microsystems from 2009-2010, and as a Visiting Professor at Sapienza University of Rome in 2017[7]
Leonowicz is a co-author of more than 230 scientific publications indexed in the Scopus[8], cited a total of more than 2,100 times by other authors (Hirsch Index 21). He was a recipient of the "NATO Advanced Fellowship" at TU Dresden from 2001-2002.
He has promoted 3 doctors of technical sciences. Since 2020, he has served as Head of the Department of Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering at the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.[9]
