Zin Never Dies is a dark fantasy tabletop role-playing game (tabletop RPG) created by Eiko Nemo Dowme and released in 2023 after a successful kickstarter crowdfunding campaign in 2022.[2] It is set on the continent "Dji-Za" where spirits dictate the lives of the inhabitants. The game "combines mythological folklore - including the presence of gods - and a magic force known as Zin." [1]
Influences
Dowme has stated that the game's world was inspired by "multicultural folklore"[3] and works such as Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke and Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher novels. It has also drawn comparisons to Team Cherry's Metroidvania game Hollow Knight[1]. Matt Jarvis, editor-in-chief of Dicebreaker.com said that "While creator (Eiko) Nemo Dowme said that Hollow Knight hadn’t played a direct role in influencing Zin Never Dies, its mythical tone, artwork and creatures - including armoured slug knights - easily bring to mind the insect fantasy world and cartoony gothic aesthetic of the acclaimed indie video game."
