Early Life[edit]

Zincedile Monde Ndoda Tiya is born in Ngangelizwe Location, Mthatha in Eastern Cape on the 3rd June 1982 by Nomampondo Tiya and Albert Baizly whom were never married. He is raised by a single parent who took him to school until manhood.

He then studied his early education at Mkhatini Lower Primary School in Ngangelizwe Location from grade 1 to grade 6 in 1993, where he later went to Zimele Junior Secondary School in Ikwezi Township to complete his Junior Secondary from grade 7 to grade to grade 9 in 1996. He then completed his high school at Khanyisa High School where he completed matric in 1999.

Growing up he was a boxer at a very tender age and further joined Zimele Kudu Troop as a Boy Scout in 1994. He then became an armature Regional Champion in the weights division he was boxing under. He later became a Provincial Champion in Eastern Cape Boxing Organisation in 1998. He was political minded at a very young age, as he then joined COSAS of the Eastern Cape Region although there was an SRC structure he was part of while completing his high school at Khanyisa High School even though they were not allowed to take part in politics as Khanyisa was a private school .

In 2001 he then joined [1] where he registered a bridging course under the Faculty of Business Management and Commerce for one year and later changed to Faculty of Arts in 2002, where he enrolled Bachelor of Arts in Translation Degree and concluded it in 2005. During that time, he joined Unitra Boxing Club and became a National Champion and a Gold Medallist in USASSA Games in 2004, 2005 (best boxer), 2006 through 2007.

While at the University of Transkei he joined SASCO, a student organisation and became an activist and was part of the leadership position for Faculty of Arts, Anglican Students Society, Council of Churches, All Sports Society and Student Representative Council. In 2005, he was deeply involved in the merger negotiations between Border Technikon, Eastern Cape Technikon and University of Transkei which resulted in the formation of Walter Sisulu University on the 1st of July 2005.

After completing his BA Translation, he then registered Bachelor of Law (Baccalaureus Legum) in 2006 [2]. He led SASCO and SRC and later formed a branch ANCYL in WSU. The SASCO organisation he led at the time received accolades nationally as the biggest branch in the country and most vibrant branch with political programs for two terms. He was SASCO chairperson from 2007 up until 2009. And ANCYL organisation later received the Anton Lembede award for being the biggest branch in the country and most political active branch in the [2] as a whole .

Zincedile Monde Tiya is a Criminal Advocate with BA – Translation, 2005, WSU (former University of Transkei). LLB (Baccalaureus Legum) WSU, 2010.University of KwaZulu Natal, practical legal training (part 1). University of Witwatersrand, practical legal training (part 2). [3] – NQF level 6 certificate of African Political Economy and African Thought Leadership with Thabo Mbeki Institute . Admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2014.He also serves on the Family Law Committee, Standing Committee Legal Education and as an alternate on Criminal Law Committee, Legal Aid Committee and Joint Law Society of South Africa/Attorneys Fidelity Fund Gats (incl. Foreign Qualifications Committee) of the Law Society of South Africa. Currently he’s serving as Chairperson of the [4](NADEL) in the former Transkei region. He also owns his own law firm [5] in Eastern Cape, Mthatha .

Awards[edit]

Mthatha legal eagle Zincedile Tiya has been voted as the fifth most influential young person in South Africa by Advance Media . Advance Media is an African media and public relations agency focused on creating varied contents for the global market.

Tiya was nominated in the law and governance category, where he was second to Ndlozi. Voting was open for two weeks in February. Tiya was nominated as a member of National Association of Democratic Lawyers (Nadel), where he is the national youth coordinator. Speaking to the Dispatch on Monday, Tiya said this was an achievement which held a special place in his heart. [6] he said.

Tiya said the fact that a legal mind like his would be ranked so highly was something of which he could be very proud. [7]he said.

He wanted to encourage rural young men to not give up on their dreams and to continue to push forward . [8] he said. Tiya thanked all those who had voted for him.
