"Template:Langr" (Rise, Zion, become light) is a Christian hymn in German for Epiphany with text and melody by Heinrich Bone, who wrote the text in 1847 and the melody in 1852. It is contained in regional sections of the Catholic hymnal Gotteslob.

History[edit]

Bone wrote the text of "Template:Langr" in 1847,[1] and published it in his hymnal Cantate!, as No. 81 in a section Das Fest der Erscheinung (Epiphany).[2] Bone added the melody in 1852.[1][2] The song, in three stanzas of six lines each with an added "Halleluja", is based on Isaiah 60:1–2.

The hymn became part of regional sections in the German common hymnal Gotteslob in 1975, such as GL 847 in the Diocese of Würzburg,[3] It was retained there in the second edition as GL 761.[3] In Limburg, it was GL 815 in the first edition, and GL 760 in the second.[4]

Bernhard Hemmerle [de] composed a four-part setting with organ around 2016.[5]
