Zudy Software is an enterprise application software development company. The company's platform, Vinyl (considered aPaaS), is an enterprise mobile application low-code development platform that allows businesses to build custom applications using multiple data sources and business process automation.[1]

Platform

Vinyl is a platform built using declarative programming that allows companies to create their own custom enterprise applications without using traditional programming language. Rather than supporting the traditional application process (hand-coding), the low-code/no-code development platform builds apps based on the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method.[2]

As opposed to coded development, according to Forbes, Zudy’s Vinyl “take[s] a model-driven execution platform approach. In this case, the visual application creation environment generates an intermediate domain-specific representation of the application in question which the platform interprets and executes directly at runtime.”[3]

In 2019, Zudy was listed as a leading low-code platform for business developers by Forrester.[4]

Vinyl allows users to configure designs, automate business processes, develop workflows, customize user interface, and integrate with multiple organization data sources to create a consolidated enterprise application environment.[5]

The three-part architecture of the platform includes design, business logic, and data access. The platform supports fully integrated dashboards with cross-platform capability, analytics, chart, and reporting from multiple data sources. It also automates business functionality in areas including human resources and sales and adapts to the needs of a business. Vinyl is available via web as well as mobile, on any device.[6]

History

Thomas R. Kennedy Jr. and Trish Kennedy founded Zudy in 2013. They established the company's headquarters in a training facility that was previously home to BackOffice Associates (now known as Syniti), a data governance and migration services provider the couple founded in Harwich Port, Massachusetts.[7][8][9][10][11]

iHeartMedia, a mass media corporation, became one of Zudy's first clients in 2015 to streamline their talent endorsement sales and management processes using a custom enterprise application. Zudy created their custom app in 1 week, connecting four cloud-based data sources and one on-premise server.[8]

After the Zudy software became available to the public in 2016, they reached $6M in revenue.[12]

Notable clients include Kraft Group, Cal-Maine Foods, Inc., Brooks Brothers, iHeartMedia, Stericycle, and LanciaConsult.[7][13][14][15][16][17][18][19]

Partnerships & Sponsorships

In 2016, Zudy partnered with Fred Kirsch, Publisher & Vice President of Content at Kraft Sports Productions, and the New England Patriots, to start the technology column “Tackling Tech.”[13]

Zudy developed a no-code enterprise application for the New England Patriots that allows team management to better manage luxury suite owners. The app provides a single user interface for administrators to manage tickets, food and beverages, attendees, and ticket owners' personal preferences at Gillette Stadium. In addition, the app allows users to record attendee information, manage invitations, deliver electronic tickets, and calculate ticket value for corporate administration purposes.[13]

The “Tackling Tech” column led to a business relationship with (and endorsement from) Julian Edelman, whose celebrity management app helps him to manage his brand (JE11) and other business ventures.[13] The app tracks his personal appearances, endorsements, merchandising, social media accounts, and investments. Edelman endorsed Zudy by joining their “Zudy, Be Quick” video campaign that explains how fast the developer is able to design their applications.[20][21]

In April 2021, the Miami Dolphins announced a partnership with Zudy to modernize the team's and Hard Rock Stadium's digital operations, including staff and event workflow management.[22]

Reception in the Tech Industry

TechTimes, an online publication that offers news, reviews, and analyses on technological innovation, ranked Zudy #1 in their "Top 5 Best Enterprise Application Development Platforms in 2019," citing the speed and efficiency of their enterprise app development platform: "The almost unbelievable no-code platform Vinyl works with midsize to large global enterprises providing highly custom and integrated solutions. Solutions that would traditionally require a 12-18 month development cycle can now be built in a few weeks and delivered into production in extremely abbreviated timeframes."[23]
