Zul Ariffin
Zulkifli bin Ariffin (born 25 October 1986) is a Malaysian male actor and model. He became active in acting in 2008 through the role of an assistant in the drama series *Awan Dania* and later moved to the main character as Inspector Ashraf in the longest-running police drama series aired on RTM, *Gerak Khas*, until the drama was rested in 2011. He made his first film appearance through the character ASP Zam in the film *Evolusi KL Drift 2* in 2010. Early Life
He was born on October 25, 1986, in Taiping, Perak, and is the youngest of four siblings; he has two older sisters and an older brother, and is of Malay and Dutch descent. He aspired to be a member of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) but unfortunately did not qualify due to a broken shoulder injury. He left his hometown in Taiping to find work in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, and was offered a job as a barista in a cafe named Dome Café, at the age of 18. He later took up training as a fashion model and began participating in several fashion shows.
Careers
His talent was detected by a talent scout and he began to appear in television commercials. He got his first acting role in 2008 through the drama *Awan Dania* starring Scha Al-Yahya. In 2009, he played the lead role as Inspector Ashraf in the *Gerak Khas* police action drama produced by Yusof Haslam; however, his involvement with *Gerak Khas* did not last when the drama was temporarily suspended two years later. Zul debuted on the big screen by starring in *Evolusi KL Drift 2*, directed by Syamsul Yusof, in which he plays the role of ASP Zam, with Remy Ishak as Inspector Kamal. The film premiered on March 25, 2010, and was a success. After *Gerak Khas* was "rested" with its last episode aired on July 22, 2011, he starred in the drama *Nora Elena* with Aaron Aziz and Siti Saleha, which aired on Slot Akasia TV3. He is said to have struggled in 2012 when he gained excessive weight. At the time, he did not accept a job offer for a year and a half. In 2013, Zul starred in his only TV drama of the year, *Luluhnya Sebuah Ikrar*, with Sara Ali and Ryzal Jaafar.
