"Crazy Summer Dance" (српски: Луди летњи плес, Ludi letnji ples) is a song by Flamingosi and Louis from the album Gordost i Predrasude, which was almost chosen to represent Serbia and Montenegro in 2006 at the Eurovision Song Contest. In the final score of the Europesma national competition, the song was at the questionable second position after the song was boycotted by the Montenegrin jury.[1][2]

The competition for Serbia and Montenegro's ESC representative[edit]

The song of the Montenegrin band No Name Moja ljubavi took second place in the Montenegrin semi-final "Montevizija 2006". While the Flamingosi's song won the Serbian semi-final of Beovizija in 2006. However, the members of the Montenegrin jury did not award any points to the two best-placed songs from Beovizija, which also happened at the 2005 Europesma.[3][4] After that, the Montenegrin group won the Europesma in 2006, largely thanks to the support of the jury members from Montenegro. The jury's voting ended with an eight-point lead for the song Moja Ljubavi, exactly as much as they received from the members of the Serbian jury.[5] In the TV voting, the audience gave 12,000 votes to Flamingosi, and only 3,500 to No Name.[6] The disgruntled audience in the hall demanded that Flamingosi and Louis sing for them at the end of the program, and not the official winners, which is what later happened.[7][8]

Aftermath[edit]

The Serbs did not want to accept victory and planned to organize a new national final whose outcome would be entirely determined by TV audience voting. When the Montenegrins refused, Serbia and Montenegro withdrew from the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest following an argument between the Serbian and Montenegrin juries during the Europesma national final and accusations of tactical voting done by the Montenegrin jury.[9][10]

The State Union of Serbia and Montenegro dissolved after two months, on May 21, 2006. Since the 2007 competition, Serbia and Montenegro have competed individually.[11][12][13] There are several versions of this song. The first one is the regular and original version for the Europesma competition, the post-competition version with mention of the defeat and the cities of Serbia and Montenegro not the European capital cities, and the semi-instrumental version with only the female vocals and the chorus.[14]

In the 2020s, the song became popular again on TikTok.[15]
