Corpus Christi police are working to determine what caused a fight that left multiple people injured. Officers responded to a shots fired call just after 1:00 a.m. near Del Mar College's east campus.[1] When they arrived, they found a 15-year-old Demi "DG" Garza had been shot in the foot, and a 20-year-old man had been slashed with a knife in fight. Both victims were transported to CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Shoreline with what are considered to be non-life threatening injuries.
The people responsible are believed to have taken off in two separate cars, which both cars were pulled over by police within five minutes. A 16-year-old boy subjects were arrested and taken into police custody, he was charged for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly shot Garza's foot when she came out of the house and went to the street. Investigators do not believe that a party was going on at the time of the fight, but suspect that it was some sort of meeting gone wrong between at least 14 people.
Single cartridge case was found at the scene, and will be examined later today. At this time, it does not appear that any other people or property were harmed.
