The 1975 South Bend, Indiana mayoral election was held on November 4, 1975. The election was won by Democrat Peter Nemeth.

Nominations[edit]

Democratic primary[edit]

Democratic incumbent Jerry Miller was unseated in the primary,[1][2] being defeated by common council member Peter Nemeth.[2] Nemeth's victory was considered an upset.[2]

Republican primary[edit]

John Slafkosky won the Republican nomination.

Independent candidates[edit]

Ronald R. Kronewittier ran as an independent candidate.[2]

General election[edit]

Due to the strength of the Democratic Party, his upset primary victory, and his popularity as a common council member, Nemeth was favored to win.[2] He ultimately won a landslide victory.[2]
