Local elections was held in Santa Rosa on May 7, 2001 within the Philippine general election. The voters elected for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, and eight councilors.
Overview[edit]
Incumbent Mayor Leon Arcillas will re-electionist for mayor under Nationalist People's Coalition Her opponent Former Mayor Roberto "Tito" Gonzales Under Lakas-NUCD. Gonzales also served as Mayor from 1988 to 1998.
Mayor Arcillas' running mate is Incumbet Councilor Vanni Bustamante is a nominee under NPC, His opponents are Incumbent Councilor Eric Puzon Under And Lakas-NUCD Former Vice Mayor Joey Catindig under Independent.

Municipal Council Elections[edit]
Voters will elect eight (8) councilors to comprise the Municipal Council or the Sangguniang Bayan. Candidates are voted separately so there are chances where winning candidates will have unequal number of votes and may come from different political parties.
