The 2016 AFF Beach Soccer Championship also known as the 2016 AFF Vietcombank Beach Soccer Championship for sponsorship reasons was the 2nd edition of the AFF Beach Soccer Championship, the beach soccer championship for Southeast Asia, held from 2–12 December 2016. This edition was scheduled to be held from 5–13 August 2016 in Da Nang, Vietnam[1] but was later postponed in June 2016 due to main sponsor FELDA withdrawing due to financial constraints. [2] On 3 October 2016, it was announced that the tournament will held in December 2016. On October 9, 2016, it was announced that Vietcombank will be the main sponsor of the tournament.

On October 24, 2016, it was announced by the AFC that the tournament will serve as the qualification for the 2017 AFC Beach Soccer Championship. Vietnam qualified automatically as AFC selection. If Vietnam were not among the final match, the winners of final match would be qualifiers for the AFC Beach Soccer Championship; however, Vietnam advanced to the final along with Thailand and beat Thailand 6–3. Thailand also qualified for the 2017 AFC Beach Soccer Championship as an AFF representative.
