2022 International U-19 Thanh Niên Newspaper Cup |
The International U-19 Thanh Niên Newspaper Cup is an annual football tournament held in Vietnam. The tournament was officially launched in 2017 by Thanh Niên News in cooperation with the Vietnam Football Federation, with the aim of improving youth football in Vietnam. In addition to improving the quality of football in the country, the tournament also helps VFF selectors build up the next generation of players who would represent Vietnam at the senior and U23 levels.[1]

After the event that the Vietnam U19 team successfully competed at the 2016 AFC U-19 Championship to win tickets to the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, Thanh Nien Newspaper cooperated with VFF, organizing a football tournament called Youth Newspaper U19 International Football Tournament, to give Vietnam U19s a chance to compete before a continental tournament. The 2017 season is the first held from April 11 to April 22, 2017, at the Nha Trang Stadium in Nha Trang. Vietnam U-19 was the first champion of this tournament when they defeated South Korea's U-19 Gwangju FC 2–0 on April 22, 2017
After the 2018 National U19 Football Championship ended, Thanh Nien Newspaper continued to accompany Vietnam's U19 youth to organize the 2018 Youth Newspaper International U19 Football Tournament to help the Vietnam U19 team coach. Nam continued to select the best players to attend the final round of the 2018 AFC U-19 Championship which took place near the end of 2018. At this tournament, U19 Vietnam won the championship with a triumphant victory. total victory.
