2018 RIFL season

The 2018 Royal Ironman Football League season was the 11th and final season of play for the Royal Ironman Football League. The preseason commenced April 21st and ran through May 26th. The regular season began June 2nd and ran through August 17th. The Midway Marauders won the RIFL regular season by virtue of winning the Iron Bowl against the Southern Lakes Blue Devils on August 25th. The Mid-States playoffs ran from September 29th to October 20th. The conference championship rounds were played on October 6th between the Chicago Falcons and the Southern Lake Blue Devils, which the Blue Devils won 37-0, and the Midway Marauders and the Oak Park Sharks, which the Marauders won 52-7. The Mid-States championship game, a rematch of the Iron Bowl, was played on October 20th between the Marauders and the Blue Devils, and was won again by the Marauders 57-14, who completed their first ever undefeated season in franchise history.

The All-Star Game which was played against the NEFL, took place on October 27th at the Woodside Sports Complex, in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, which ended in a victory by the NEFL over the RIFL All-Stars 18 to 14.

Aftermath[edit]

At the conclusion of the 2018 season & All-Star Game, the RIFL folded. The Mid-States Championship game participants Marauders and Blue Devils joined the Mid States Football League. Whereas the Sharks decided to go independent, and the Falcons joined the newly formed Unified Football League.
