The 2019-20 season was Dhaka Abahani's 48th competitive season. They have not been relegated since the competition started in 2007. This season also remarked their 11th consecutive seasons in top-flight since professional competition formed on 2007.[2] As of 11 March, their AFC Club Ranking is 79.[3]
On 17 May 2020, The Bangladesh Football Federation executive committee, following an emergency meeting, declared the 12th edition of the league abandoned, scrapping promotion and relegation while cancelling the Independence Cup from the calendar.[4] As a result, Dhaka Abahani wasn't awarded champion though it was in the first place of the league.
