The 2019-20 season was the club's 88th year in existence, and saw F.C. Famalicão return to the Primeira Liga for the first time since 1994. In addition to Primeira Liga, Famalicão competed in both Taça de Portugal and Taça da Liga.

As a result, Portimonense (17th place) were invited to remain in the top tier for the 2020–21 season.[1]
