The 2019 Belarusian protests (Belarusian: Беларускія пратэсты ў 2019 годзе) were mass demonstrations and popular protests in town squares and major cities in Belarus between July–December, fuelled by Russian-Belarusian relations and demanding an end to the Union of Russia and Belarus. Anti-Russian protests were also held. No anti-government rallies were held during the disturbances. Protests were held against a new deal set by Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko. Protest actions became large-scale in the nation’s capital Minsk in December, when an active movement began during plunging temperatures and freezing cold amid snow and icy streets, growing anti-Russian opposition and street protests against Russia’s integration with Belarus. No arrests and injuries were reported.[1][2][3][4]
