Background[edit]
Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic[edit]
The opening rounds of the 2020 Formula One World Championship were heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Several Grands Prix were cancelled or postponed after the aborted opening round in Australia, prompting the FIA to draft a new calendar. The Portuguese Grand Prix was not expected to feature on the 2020 calendar, but during the Summer break, the FIA reworked the calendar in order to maximise the number of races in the season. The Emilia Romagna GP was therefore confirmed for the 2020 Calendar.[2] 13,000 fans are expected to attend the races.[3] The race weekend will be two days rather than the traditional three days.[3]
Notes[edit]
- ↑ The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic saw several Grands Prix cancelled or rescheduled. The revised calendar consists of seventeen races.
