2022 Berkeley, California restaurant assault
Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck". On November 9, 2022, an assault occurred at a Thai restaurant in Berkeley, California, wounding the restaurant owner's nephew. The owner's nephew confronted a 32-year-old man who was asking to be served free food. After the man was denied so by the owner's nephew, the suspect allegedly punched the other man in the face; the man fell down, and he was kicked towards his upper body. As the man continued to deliver several hits and blows to the owner's nephew, at least two other patrons were seen on video fighting the man and bringing him outside for the police to arrive. The suspect was charged with assault.[1][2]
Assault[edit]
The assault was captured on surveillance video from around 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 9. It shows a customer at the bottom of the screen asking for free food. When he was told no, the restaurant owner's nephew went over to see what was wrong. That's when the customer went on the attack, hitting and punching the nephew, even knocking over a table.[3] The alleged assailant, Anthony DeMaria, is charged with felony assault.
