The local elections in Butuan, Agusan del Sur were held on May 9, 2022, within the Philippine general election. Registered voters of the city elected candidates for the following elective local posts: mayor, vice mayor, and ten councilors.

Background

In the 2019 Butuan elections, Lagnada ran with Jose Aquino II who was the vice mayor.[2] After his term, Aquino ran for congressman of Agusan del Norte's 1st congressional district.[3] He was replaced by Lawrence Fortun,[1] the former congressman of the same district.[4]

Ronnie Vicente Lagnada filed his certificate of candidacy for mayor along with Norbert Pagaspas, Edward Chan, and Myrna Bernandos. Lagnada was with the Nacionalista Party, Pagaspas was with PDP-Laban, and Chan and Bernandos did not join any party.
