The general election of Missouri State Auditor will occur during the 2022 United States midterm election, along with the 2022 United States Senate election in Missouri, on November 8, 2022.[1] Nicole Galloway, a member of the Democratic Party, was originally appointed to the seat in 2015 by then-Governor of Missouri Jay Nixon following the death of incumbent Tom Schweich, and was elected to a full term in 2018.[2] Galloway has been the only statewide elected Democrat in Missouri since 2019, when Democratic U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill left office after losing reelection to Josh Hawley. Galloway was also the Democratic nominee for governor in 2020, losing to incumbent Mike Parson.[1]
