The 2023 Global T20 Canada will be the third edition of Global T20 Canada, a professional Twenty20 cricket tournament held in Canada. The season will commence on July 20, 2023 and the final will be played on August 6, 2023.[1] The Edmonton Royals were renamed as Surrey Jaguars[2], and Mississauga Panthers replaced Winnipeg Hawks.[3]

Background[edit]
Originally the third season was planned to be played in 2020, but it was postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic[4] and the venue was also shifted from CAA Centre in Brampton to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia[5] due to COVID-19 restrictions in Canada. But later the tournament was cancelled due to restrictions exercised by the Government of Malaysia to prevent the spread of pandemic. On 5th May 2023, Cricket Canada announced the resurrection of the third edition[6], with all the games to be played in the Brampton sports park.[7]
The player's draft was held on June 14, 2023 in Mumbai.[8] Each team were allowed to sign a maximum of 16 players in the draft. six players could be international players, two of them from marquee list, four players from associate member nations and the six players from Canada.[8][9]
