Amid the downsizing of the 2020 Democratic National Convention held in the city, there has been talk by a number of notable individuals in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin about the city pushing to receive the 2024 convention as consolation.[1][2][3] Speculation exists that, due to the circumstances surrounding the downsizing of the 2020 convention, Milwaukee would be a frontrunner to host the convention if it pursues it.[4] If awarded the 2024 convention, Milwaukee could become the first city to host major party conventions in consecutive elections since New York City held both the 1976 and 1980 Democratic conventions.
Officials in Columbus, Ohio have discussed trying to become the convention's host city.[5]
Format[edit]
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, the format of the 2020 convention differed drastically from preceding iterations. It is unclear now how many of these changes, if any, will carry over to the 2024 convention.
