As of Early January 2026, the TikTok culture started a series of Memes with Slang Terms based on the PlayStation 5. These memes usually concern protecting the PS5 at all costs, or Freaking out when it's stolen.[1]Multiple terms aroused on these memes, spreading on short-form media (e.g. TikTok, YouTube Shorts, etc.), mainly being "El Cinco", spanish for "The Five".
History
The earliest known instance of such came from a TikTok video from @cubdih posted on January 11th 2026. The meme concerned the quote "when my house is genuinely getting looted but I peep them grabbing el cinco 💔", represented by 3 clips. The term "el cinco", is a spanish translation for "The Five", referencing to the PlayStation console.[2]
Later, on January 20th, another TikTok user under the alias "wokboby", posted a meme also about a similar situation on such pillaging, quoting "When the robbers say "I got the air fryer" "You get the cinco"", this time introducing air fryers as another valuable object, other than just the PS5. On the same day, another user "80kelii", posts a similar meme. But this time, replacing 5 with a variation of the Einstein fields questions, meant to be El Cinco.[2]
Consequently, multiple TikTok videos appear concerning el cinco being in "la casa", yet prioritizing it over any other items. Be it in robbery scenarios, fires, or mom unplugging it on the way to school.[2][1]
Another slang term came for the PS5, other than just el cinco: "The 5th [Title/Honorific] of Sony Entertainment", which the honorific refers to the PlayStation consoles by Sony. An early instance of this new term being on January 31st by @nano_1605, the video quotes: "when some thugs robbing my house but they place their fingers on The Fifth Heir of Sony so i genuinely gather every controller with stickdrift and shang chi that mf", showing a clip of Shang-Chi utilising his powers. The video got 171.3 thousand likes. A similar term came from WataNare, mainly the animation adaptation, back before El Cinco. Usually revolving on scenes around Renako with their console she calls "Five-kun (Katakana: 5クン)". Later on January 27th, a TikToker under the name sacboi209, posted a video quoting "son we've had The 5 and El Cinco now we got Five-Kun", over a scene in the WataNare anime series concerning Renako seeing her "Five-Kun" run out of battery.
