3's a Charm is the debut studio album by the American R&B group S.H.E. (which stands for Soul, Heart, Energy), consisting of sisters Tyren Perry, Jania Perry and actress Jaimee Foxworth. It was preceded by the single "My Secret Is"[1] and released on July 1, 1997[2] in the United States and Japan. The album was executive produced by Antonina Armato.[3]
Background[edit]
The group signed to Shaquille O'Neal's T.W.IsM. Records imprint through Interscope Records in 1996. They first made an appearance on his You Can't Stop the Reign album which was released on November 19, 1996 on the tracks "S.H.E. (Interlude)" (which appears on the album in a shortened version), "Let's Wait a While" and "Player" (which included Shaquille O'Neal as the featured rapper.[4] Afterwards, they began work on their debut album and completed work the following year. They marked their television debut on February 8, 1997 by performing with Shaquille O'Neal at the NBA's Team Up Celebration during the All Star Weekend.[5] Soon after, they premiered their first single "My Secret Is" on April 7, receiving 15 radio adds the first week and added to regular rotation on 30 urban stations. A song slated for the album[5] but not included, "We've Got Heart" was released on the soundtrack to Shaquille O'Neal's 1997 film Steel (1997 film).[6]
