41 (Nalpathiyonnu) is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language drama film directed by Laljose and written by debutant P. G. Prageesh. The film stars Biju Menon, Nimisha Sajayan, Saranjith, Dhanya Ananya in the lead roles. The movie is jointly produced by G.Prajith, Anumodh Bose and Adarsh Narayan under the banner of Signature Studios. 41 is the 25th directorial venture of Lal Jose. The movie is slated for release on November 8, 2019.[1]

The songs are composed by Bijibal and written by Rafeeq Ahammed and Sreerekha Bhaskar. Cinematography is by S Kumar, who has handled the camera for several popular Malayalam movies since 1978. Songs are rendered by Shreya Ghoshal, Sharreth, Vijesh Gopal and Daya Bijibal. Nalpathiyonnu also marks the entry of Bharatanatyam exponent Guru Manu Mash into the film industry.[2]

Plot[edit]

The film is inspired by a true events. Politics, religious belief and communism are the central themes in the movie. The story unravels through hilarious incidents when two people - strong followers of Communist ideologies-set out on a pilgrimage to Sabarimala. While Biju Menon portrays Ullas Mashu, a staunch communist; Saranjith plays the role of Vavachi Kannan, who is an ardent devotee of Lord Ayyappa.[3]

Filming[edit]

The movie is set in the backdrop of North Malabar and brilliantly portrays the unique socio-political life of the people in that part of the state. The shooting locations include Kannur, Thalassery, Talakaveri, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Ambalappuzha, Pathanamthitta and Sabarimala. The intrinsic beauty of Western Ghats has been captured beautifully through the lens of Kumar. The movie also depicts the rituals of the hill shrine in detail and is expected to be a real visual treat for the viewers.
