History[edit]
Kyle Richh and Jenn Carter met as childhood friends in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. 41 was formed after TaTa was introduced to the pair by rapper and 41 collaborator Dee Billz.[1]
In 2022, the trio signed with Republic Records. The single "Notti Bop" was released in October of that year, with its music video reaching the number one trending position on YouTube. "Notti Bop" mocked the late rapper Notti Osama, who was stabbed to death at age 14.[2] The song and its associated dance, which mimicked a stabbing motion, generated significant controversy and the music video was eventually removed from YouTube.[1]
In August 2023, 41 released the single "Bent," ahead of the release of 41 World: Not the Album. Bent became the groups most-streamed song, amassing more than 70,000,000 streams on Spotify and over 14,000,000 views on YouTube.[3][4] "Bent" was certified gold by the RIAA in February 2024.[5] 41 World: Not the Album was released on November 17th, 2023.
