4th Curtis
4th Curtis is an American indie-pop/alternative all-transgender band based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and formed in 2015. The band consists of Lexington (Lex) Noens (vocals and guitar), Ty Gale (vocals and keys), and Maddie Morley (drums).
To date, 4th Curtis has released one album, I Won The Pageant (2017). 4th Curtis started as a solo project by Noens, who attended the McNally Smith College of Music.[1]. 4th Curtis became a group in October 2015 and shortly after started tracking demos[2]. Their music is primarily influenced by gender identity and Noens personal experience with a lifelong disability[3].
Musical style and influences
4th Curtis' music has been described as indie-pop with with lyrics that will make you smirk[4]. Their music has been described as contrasting in that they have lively tunes that deal with big material[5].
I Won The Pageant is 4th Curtis first album, released in 2017. The album was written after the death of Noens grandmother, who's story helped to inspire most of the album[6]. Noen's grandmother won the Miss Virginia pageant, but gave up her crown to marry her sweetheart[7]
