Giant Flying Turtles is a Brooklyn based progressive pop band featuring three lead singers. The bands 2017 record, Waltz To The World received coverage in, Sputnikmusic, Louder Than War, and Huffington Post.[1][2][3] Their song "Keep My Dream Alive" was used in the film Shining In The Dark which was featured in the Moscow International Film Festival.[4] Their song "Raven Hair" was featured in One Wall: Kings Of Coney Island which has been featured at the Galway Film Fleadh and the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema.[5][6]

Career[edit]

Made up of professional musicians, the band came together in 2012 playing prog influenced pop rock. In 2012 the band released their debut self-titled record and started to perform in the New York and New Jersey areas at venues including The Bitter End and a notable performance at the Five Boro Bike Tour.[7][8] It was with 2017's Waltz To The World that the band started to achieve critical success. Outside of having multiple songs featured in film festivals, they also saw coverage in notable publications including The Big Takeover.[4][5][9] Substream Magazine wrote of the record, "It’s hard to classify the sound on the band’s new album, Waltz To The World, with just one (or even two or three) simple genre tags. It’s an ambitious musical outing that covers a lot of ground, and it covers it well. The Brooklyn quartet stays mainly rooted in areas of rock, but there’s some bluesy soul, saloon-style Western ditties, some Americana, honky-tonk, and some slower, ballad-like moments as well."[10]
