Tyrone Munyaradzi Nyika (born 10 July 1984), better known by his stagename 5Star Captain, is a Zimbabwean musician currently the CEO and Founder of Skanking Nhasitafara International.

Early life[edit]

Born in Highfield a ghetto in which he also went on grew up in, in Zimbabwe, Trigga discovered his music and leadership skills at a very tender age. He later chose to seriously follow his musical urges which he continues to obey and follow to this day.

Career[edit]

Career beginnings[edit]

In the turning of the new millennium, 5Star formed together with other talented and likeminded musicians formed a rap group called Slam Militants which included many artists who made it big in the Zimbabwe Muisc Industry the likes of Lipsy the Ninja First Lady and the mic-ripper Jay-Wo. He worked with Nemesis ZWone of the most respected Zimbabwean producers of all time. 5Star began making music since then under the name Tiny Trigga a name he got from his High school days because of his small stature. His area of initial expertise was Rap. He still considers it his comfort zone.

2007-2010:Transition to Reggae Fusion[edit]

He grouped up with his childhood friends AliDee, DubiouZ, Da Virus and ShoCCa to form a formidable crew that fused Reggae, Dancehall and Rap. Together with AliDee they came second in a talent show losing to the Bongo Muffin outfit which had an advanced set of instruments. The team grew including boys of the same hood of Highfield and they had a nomadic musical career, recording in various studios. ‘Give Her’[2], ‘Visions’ , ‘Who Jah Bless’[3] and many other unreleased works were some of the first Reggae/Dancehall records. Artists like Gappy Ranks, Masicka, Bounty Killer and other reggae dancehall artists made him fall in love with the vibes from the Caribbean. Dancehall listener-ship in Zimbabwe [4] is on a steep rise 5Star Captain and his crew is the quencher of this thirst and longing.

2010- Allied ZW[edit]

The group had the same vision as Trigga, a vision to take Zimbabwean Music to an International appreciative audience[5]. They worked with MacGyver [6]a veteran Jamaican Producer of the Ice Reignz Records and voiced on the same Riddim with Sizzla and Luciano

Present Day- Skanking Nhasitafara International[edit]

With the moral support of all the Labels present stakeholders Trigga started the Skanking Nhasitafara International [7] records label, which is the hottest label in Zimbabwe right now. The crew are on heavy rotation in the Harare clubs and parties[8]. 5Star Captain featured on a NewsDay Zimbabwe interview[9] talking about his upcoming Dancehall album.
