9 builders 9 tools (9b9t) is a multiplayer Minecraft anarchy server. Founded on June 19th, 2016 by jj20051, the server has seen over 166,990 unique player logins and measures upwards of 2,824 gigabytes [1]. The server has no rules whatsoever, with griefing and cheating commonplace. As of 2020, the server costs upwards of $200 a month to operate[2].

    Background

In 2016, Youtuber TheCampingRusher posted videos of himself playing on 2b2t, leading to a rapid spike in its popularity[3][4][5]. With 2b2t's server and queue full, a handful of similar servers spawned out of inspiration, including 9b9t in June 2016[1]. Since its inception, 9b9t has spawned numerous factions, builds and player groups, who cooperate and compete with each other on the server.
