The A112 is a road in East London, beginning in the town of Waltham Abbey. It passes through Chingford, Walthamstow and Stratford before ending in North Woolwich in the London Borough of Newham.

The route[edit]

In Waltham Abbey[edit]

The A112 begins in the town of Waltham Abbey in the Epping Forest District and metropolitan area of London. The town is located on the M25 motorway. The road starts just south of the town centre at the junction with the A121 road, which leads to the town's junction (26) of the M25 motorway. The road travels in a southerly direction, through the village of Sewardstone. The road passes the Lea Valley Campsite and the Yardley Estate where it enters the Waltham Forest.

In Chingford, Waltham Forest[edit]

The road enters the London Borough of Waltham Forest in Chingford. It continues south past the Yardley Estate and to the junction of A110 road to Enfield and Barnet in the west, and North West Chingford and Woodford. It continues south and past the A1037 and down Old Church Road hill to Chingford Mount.

Chingford Mount is one of Chingford's two town centres, with its high street stores and a junction where the A112 meets the A1009 to Woodford. The A112 continues south down Chingford Mount Road, past the old Walthamstow Stadium to the Crooked Billet junction with the A406 North Circular Road to Wood Green and Chiswick to the west, Barking and Woolwich to the east, and the B179 to Blackhorse Road station via Higham Hill.

In Walthamstow, Waltham Forest[edit]

The A112 continues south past the Higham Hill estate into Walthamstow. The next junction is Walthamstow, The Bell where the A112 meets the A503 road to Holloway and Camden Town to the west, and Woodford to the east.

Continuing south from The Bell, the A112 becomes Hoe Street all the way to Leyton. The road passes through several bends from The Bell until it reaches the town centre. The road is located on the eastern side of Walthamstow High Street, Walthamstow Market, The Mall, Walthamstow bus station and Walthamstow Central station. It continues south round a minor one way system out of the town centre to south Walthamstow. It passes Queens Road, which gives a quick link to the A1006, and continues to Leyton, Bakers Arms.

In Leyton[edit]

At Leyton, Bakers Arms the A112 meets the A104, Lea Bridge Road, to Hackney, Dalston and Islington to the west, and Woodford and Loughton to the east. It continues south onto High Road, Leyton past Leyton bus garage, Leyton Midland Road railway station and Leyton town centre to Leyton Underground station, above the A12. In Leyton town centre just north of the station, the A112 meets the A106 road to Hackney to the west and Leytonstone and Wanstead to the east. It continues over the A12 and Leyton Station on the Central line down to Drapers Field, on the border of Leyton and Waltham Forest and Stratford and Newham. At Drapers Field, the A112 (Crownfield Road) continues to South Leytonstone, Maryland and Forest Gate. Liberty Bridge Road is also on the right leading into the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and East Village, Stratford.

In Stratford[edit]

The A112 continues into the London Borough of Newham in Stratford to Chobham Road. It continues south on Leyton Road next to the East Village until the junction with Montfichet Road. Montfichet Road leads to Westfield Stratford City and Stratford International station. The A112 continues south, over the Angel Lane bridge into Stratford town centre.

Stratford town centre is in the middle of a large gyratory, which is made up of the A112 and the A118 road to Bow and Central London in the west and Ilford and Romford to the east. Stratford station is on the left of the gyratory and the Stratford bus station is located the gyratory.

The A112 continues south-easterly off the gyratory through West Ham Lane past Stratford Park. The B165 leaves here heading for East Ham. Just past this point on New Plaistow Road, the A1011 road starts down to West Ham and Canning Town. The A112 continues south-easterly to Plaistow.

In Plaistow[edit]

The A112 continues over Plaistow Underground station and forms the High Street. The A114 road continues to Forest Gate, Leytonstone and Whipps Cross. The A112 continues to Plaistow Greengate where it meets the A124 road to Canning Town to the west and Barking, Dagenham and Hornchurch. It continues down to Prince Regent past Newham University Hospital.

In The Royal Docks[edit]

The A112 meets up with the A13 to Canary Wharf and Central London to the west and Tilbury and Southend to the east. The A112 continues south through Prince Regent Lane to Prince Regent DLR station. It turns left onto Victoria Dock Road up to the A1020 road to Beckton. The A1020 and A112 join and go over Connaught Bridge with ExCeL Exhibition Centre and London City Airport runway to the east. After the bridge the A112 and A1020 enters Silvertown, where they split up. The A1020 continues to Canning Town and Leamouth and the A112 goes through East Silvertown. London City Airport's entrance road is on the left of the A112. The A112 continues round Albert Road to North Woolwich where it meets the A117 road North Circular Road again. The A112 continues straight on to the A117 to Beckton and East Ham or turns right and south to the ferry over to Woolwich.
