The Airbus A317 is a small, narrow-body, ultra-short to medium range (XLR [Xtra Long Range] variants only) commercial jet aircraft produced by Airbus Industrie S.A.R. in its Toulouse plant. It is part of the A320 (neo) family. Production started in 2019 and is still in production today.

History:

All A317 cockpits look exactly the same as all of the A320 (neo/ceo) family.

What would have been the smallest Airbus plane to exist, even smaller than the A318 or the A220, was a concept plane first thought of by a person from instagram. In 2018 the concept spread throughout the internet and reached the hands of Airbus. Airbus realised that it would make a huge profit for ultra-short haul flight. At once Airbus started putting the concept into action. All it needed to do was to make a few tweaks, for example, the current engine, CFM International CFM56 smaller and produce less thrust. Also they needed to put extra weight at the front and back to equalise weight, for example they put a big fuel tank beneath the hold, and the APU system, battery, and an extra fuel tank at the front, under the cockpit.
