AHOF (Hangul: 아홉; RR: Ahop; lit. Nine) is an upcoming South Korean boy band formed through SBS TV's reality competition show Universe League. To be managed by F&F Entertainment, the group consists of nine members: Steven, Seo Jeong-woo, Cha Woong-ki, Zhang Shuaibo, Park Han, JL, Park Ju-won, Chih En, and Daisuke. They are scheduled to officially debut in July 2025.
History
Formation through Universe League and other activities
AHOF, short for All-time Hall Of Famer, was formed through SBS's reality competition series Universe League, which aired from November 22, 2024 to January 24, 2025.[1][2] Developed by F&F Entertainment, the group's name and overall concept reflect the agency's intent to establish the group as lasting and influential figures in the K-pop industry, evoking the idea of a "hall of fame". The show featured 42 contestants from South Korea, China, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Australia, and the Philippines, who competed for a spot in a multinational boy group. On January 24, the final nine members were announced: seven from the winning team, Team Rhythm, and the two others who ranked highest in global voting among contestants from the two non-winning teams.[2]
Before appearing on the program, several members had prior experience in the entertainment industry. In May 2019, Steven competed in Mnet's Produce X 101 under his full name as a DS Entertainment trainee and was eliminated in 72nd place.[3] He later debuted as a member of Luminous in 2021;[4] the group officially disbanded on February 9, 2025.[5] In October 2019, Cha Woong-ki appeared on To Be World Klass,[6] where he ranked third and debuted in April 2020 as a member of the ten-member boy group TOO, which rebranded as TO1 in March 2021.[7][8] On June 17, 2022, WakeOne announced his departure from TO1.[9] In 2021, Zhang Shuaibo participated in iQIYI's Youth With You 3, where he was eliminated in the first round, ranking between 63rd and 118th place.[10] In 2023, Cha Woong-ki and Zhang Shuaibo took part in Mnet's Boys Planet, where they were eliminated in episode 11, ranking 20th and 28th, respectively.[11][12] In March 2023, JL made his debut as a member of the Philippine boy group Pluus.[13]
2025–present: Debut
On February 5, F&F Entertainment announced that AHOF members took a short break before beginning preparations for their official debut, initially planned for the first half of 2025.[14] In March, the group appeared in a Dazed Korea photoshoot and interview, where they discussed their goals and experiences following Universe League. Steven stated that he hopes the group will win a rooking award, while JL expressed interest in holding a world tour.[15] On May 22, their agency confirmed that the group is scheduled to debut in July 2025, with their title track produced by Universe League mentor El Capitxn. Prior to the album release, AHOF is expected to perform at the 2025 MyK Festa on June 19.[16][17]
