Albert Edward Sargent Jr. (born April 19, 1984) better known professionally as AJ Sargent, is an American rapper, record producer, songwriter, designer and entrepreneur, best known for The Clicq Chronicles EP Series[1] and his work with acclaimed rapper Max B.

Early Life[edit]

AJ was born to Albert Sr. and Debra, April 19, 1984 in the Naval Hospital in Groton, Connecticut. Albert, a family name, was the name of his mother's and father's fathers. Deciding there were too many Alberts in the family already, his late uncle Charles gave him his nickname, AJ, deriving from the two first letters of Albert Jr., before he was even born.[2]

AJ was born in raised, primarily in Connecticut, including a brief stay in Jacksonville, Florida of just two years. [3] He was raised back and forth between Ledyard and New Haven, Connecticut with his mother, father, older sister, Kamilah and younger brother Michael.

Music Career[edit]

1991 - 2011[edit]

AJ started his music career journey at the tender age of seven, when he recorded his first song with this uncle Harold in Hartford, CT. In the early 2000's he was working on music for Bad Boy's gospel artist, Black Moses. [2] Shortly after that project failed to materialize, AJ moved from Connecticut to Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York, creating records with his older brother/mentor Roland in their suite in the Engine Room Audio in Midtown Manhattan. The records he crafted during this time period went on to reach the Diplomats, several local New York City rappers, and one, Max B. AJ worked on Million Dollar Baby 3 with Max, right before facing, as many would say, an unlawful 75 year prison sentence.

Max's incarceration capped an adverse affect on his musical drive, as he lost inspiration for putting out music when there were so many more pressing issues to deal with. During this time, he went back to teaching. However, in 2011, he put out the first installment of The Clicq Chronicles: The Yellow Label. [recorded 2010]

2018[edit]

2018 has seen AJ more focused and busy than ever. Back after a 6 year hiatus from designing clothes, ghost production and songwriting, he released "communication", the lead single from The Clicq Chronicles: The White Label.

AJ has also been busy working with fellow Connecticut artist, Breeze Dollaz, producing for his upcoming album Love of Dollaz II, slated to release 4th quarter.
