AKIPS Pty Ltd is an Australian company which develops scalable, on-prem network-monitoring software.[1]AKIPS is an acronym of the company tagline and motto: Always Keep It Purely Simple.[2]
History
In March 2011, Paul Koch (CEO), Nick Frampton (CTO) and Mark Birkinshaw (CMO) co-founded a software business with the goal of launching a network-monitoring product.[2] Koch had previously founded the network-monitoring company Statscout in 1996, which later became Statseeker. He sold his share of Statseeker in 2010. [3]
Koch, Frampton and Birkinshaw's first 'office' was Koch's shed in Logan City in South East Queensland, where they worked for three years, bootstrapped from their own funds.[2] In April 2014, AKIPS was registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) as an Australian private company.[4]
In May 2014, AKIPS released a beta version of the software. The product was tested and improved at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. [5] In September 2014 their first customer signed up and in November 2014 the product was officially launched. [3]

AKIPS has one product: AKIPS Network Monitoring Software.[1] which is designed for medium-to-large enterprise organisations.[1] The target markets are the education (universities) and healthcare sectors. [3]

AKIPS Network Monitoring Software is sold for a fixed annual subscription at a single price for all customers, including those with very large networks. [6] The company offers free trials, complete with training, documentation and webinars. [3]
Releases
Since AKIPS released the beta version in May 2014, the software has had more than 160 releases offering new and upgraded features, additional vendors, and bug fixes.[7]
