APL Apollo Tubes is an Indian steel tube manufacturing company headquartered in Delhi, India.[7] It operates 11 manufacturing facilities with an overall capacity of 2.6 million tonnes.[8][9][10] The company has established a distribution network in 29 cities across the country.[11] APL Apollo Tubes also exports galvanised steel tubes, steel pipes, welded black pipes and tubes to 20 countries across the globe and is one of India's largest steel tube manufactures.[11][12] As of 2021, the company has a 50% market share in India’s structural steel tubes sector.[13] The company was founded on 24 February, 1986 as Bihar Tubes Limited.[14]

APL Apollo Tubes was founded by Sudesh Kumar Gupta on 24 February 1986 as Bihar Tubes Limited.[15] In 2010, Bihar Tubes Limited changed its name to APL Apollo Tubes Limited.[14] The company listed its shares on the National Stock Exchange of India in December 2011.[16] In 2021, the boards of APL Apollo Tubes and Apollo Tricoat Tubes approved the merger of Apollo Tricoat Tubes and Shri Lakshmi Metal Udyog with APL Apollo Tubes.[17]
Products and operations[edit]
APL Apollo Tubes manufactures a variety of steel tubes and pipes.[18] The company’s products include structural steel tubes, hollow section tubes, mild steel black pipes, pre-galavanized and galvanized tubes.[18] As of 2021, APL Apollo serves 1500 stock keeping units and is also the lowest cost producer for branded steel tubes.[19] Some of the company's brands include Apollo Fabritech, Apollo Column, Apollo Green, and Apollo Oval.[20] The company's products have building material applications, and are used in construction and infrastructure development.[21][22]
As of 2022, APL Apollo Tubes is also India's largest manufacturer of electric resistance welded steel pipes and sections.[23] APL Apollo Tubes accounts for 2% of India's steel consumption and 10% of the country's hot rolled coil consumption.[24] The company's products are also exported.[23]
Manufacturing facilities[edit]
APL Apollo Tubes has 11 manufacturing plants in India.[25] The company is the only Indian steel tubes company with manufacturing facilities across the country.[26] In 2021, APL Apollo Tubes produced 2 million tonnes of steel, which was lost to 2% of India’s steel production.[19] As of 2022, the company has an annual production capacity of 2.6 million tonnes.[27] APL Apollo tubes' is expanding its Raipur plant, which will add 1.5 million metric tonnes to the company's production capacity, and the plant is projected to start operations in 2023.[28]
