ASIAN KICKBOXING CONFEDERATION
Asian Kickboxing Confederation, in short "AKC", known also as WAKO ASIA, is the governing body of Kickboxing sport in the Asian continent and in charge of all Kickboxing activities in ASIA. The Confederation is composed of national Kickboxing Federations/Associations in the Asian continent. Asian Kickboxing Confederation has been founded in Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic) by Nasser Nassiri and Aleksandr Voinov and has been registered with the ministry of Justice of Kyrgyz Republic as a public Association in February 1997. After recognition of the sport of Kickboxing by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) during its General Assembly held on 9 September 2005, the Olympic Council of Asia on 28 May 2007 duly recognized the Asian Kickboxing Confederation as the sole body representing the sport of Kickboxing in the Asian Continent.
Accordingly, the sport of Kickboxing under direct supervision of the Asian Kickboxing Confederation was included in the Asian Indoor Games in 2007 Macau and then in the Asian Martial Arts Games 2009 in Bangkok (Thailand) as an official sport. In 2011, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) announced the merger of the two Games (Asian Indoor and Martial Arts). Since then, the Games is called the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games, promoted as one of the multi-sport Games promoted by the OCA.
Asian Kickboxing Confederation is the only body recognized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) to be technically in charge of the Kickboxing competition during the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games.
