Cody Zacharias (born August 15, 1996), known also as Xen and King Cody, is an American ethical hacker, security analyst, developer, and entrepreneur. He is best known as the founder of Xen and for his work with the now-defunct cyber security organization Project Insecurity.[1]
Early Life
Cody Zacharias was born on August 15, 1996 in San Diego and is the oldest of 3 children. He attended college at Pasco-Hernando State College in 2014, but after 1 semester he dropped out to teach himself computer hacking and coding while also working as a cook at McDonald's.[2]
Career
Cody Zacharias began his career as a bug bounty hunter in 2017 and has been thanked by AT&T, VICE News, RedHat, Adobe, Xfinity, LastPass, MYOB, and Acquia for finding security vulnerabilities in their sites and helping secure them.[3]
In April 2018, Zacharias and "Crackas With Attitude" hacker Kane Gamble released two exploits affecting live chat systems used by Google, PayPal, Bank of America, Verizon, Sony, Tesla, Kaspersky, AT&T, and many other large corporations.[4] The duo demonstrated that a malicious hacker is able to retrieve PII belonging to employees of the affected companies.[5]
In August 2018, Zacharias led the Project Insecurity team to release several critical exploits for OpenEMR, an open-source electronic medical system.[6] The security flaws discovered by Zacharias and the Project Insecurity team prevented more than 90 million people's medical information from being stolen.[7]
In 2021, Zacharias founded the professional branding agency Xen, with its own branded luxury clothing line, and is working with up and coming music artists and entrepreneurs.[8]
