Aaron Petersen
Aaron Petersen is an award winning documentary director and editor; most notably known for the feature length documentary Zach's Ceremony.[1][2]
Aaron spent six years directing and filming the journey and story of Zachariah and Alec Doomadgee[3][4], which was released at Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival in 2016.[5][6] Zach's Ceremony returned to Australia and featured at Sydney Film Festival[7][8] and Melbourne International Film Festival[9] where it won Best Documentary Audience Awards. The film then opened the Byron Bay Film Festival and was awarded Best Film and Best Documentary[10]. 'Zach's Ceremony' was released by Umbrella Entertainment in 2017 and was nominated in Best Documentary categories at the Film Critics Circle Awards[11] (FCCA) and Australian Directors Guild Awards[12] in 2017.
'Zach's Ceremony' was the first documentary pitched at the inaugural GoodPitch2 Australia event in 2014.[13] Aaron pitched alongside concept creator Alec Doomadgee and producer Sarah Linton, where the film was successfully funded by generous philanthropists and organisations.
Aaron is the founder of PostBox Studios based in Sydney, Australia. His directing, producing and editing credits span across television commercials, television series content and documentaries.
