Aaron Sim is a Malaysian author and founder of Wealth Mentors,[1] an educational institution based in Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines.[2][3]

In January 2012, he received the Brand Laureate and Promising SME 500 award in Singapore.[4]

Life and career[edit]

Aaron grew up in Ipoh, Malaysia and now a Singapore permanent resident. He is the eldest child in their family of five. His father is a sewing machine salesman while his mother sells cookies and clothes from home, sparking Aarons entrepreneurial spirit at a young age.[5]At age 13, Aaron obtained a scholarship. In 1987, he obtained his Certified Public Accountant qualification.

Aaron is a certified public accountant in accounting firm Ernst and Young in 1987 and finance director of Singapore and Sydney based multi-national company Unisys for seven years before starting his own company, Wealth Mentors Pte. Ltd. in 2003 and setting up a vegan restaurant franchise Loving Hut, in Puchong, Malaysia in December 2008.[6][7][8]

Turning point in career[edit]

At the age of 40, reading Robert Kiyosaki's "Rich dad, Poor Dad" and Robert Allen's "Multiple Streams of Income" inspire Aaron to start investing.[9]

While still in Unisys, the company offered Aaron an Employee Stock Purchase Plan where he will get 15 percent discount if he buys the shares, and the amount payable will be deducted in his monthly salary. That's how Aaron started to get interested in not only checking Unisys share price but also IBM, Cisco and Sun Microsystems in the stock market.

In 1993, a US company based in Manila convinced him to invest in penny stocks, and he invested USD20,000 which turned out to be a scam.[8]

Philanthropy[edit]

In 2014, Aaron started the Save Your Own Kids (S.Y.O.K) campaign in Puchong, Malaysia.[10]

In 2008, Aaron and his wife Tracy Wong pledge to give monthly charity meals to non-profit organisations in Malaysia.[11]

Books[edit]

Aaron released his first hard cover book Wealthy By Choice: Discover your Personal Blueprint to More Money, Time Freedom and Peace of Mind in June 1, 2015.[12][13]
