Aaruush[edit]

Aaruush is the National Level Techno-Management Fest of SRM Institute of Science and Technology[2]. The word Aaruush translates to '''The First Rays of the Sun''' and that is what it was during its inception back in 2007. This fest was the Brainchild of four final year students who wanted to create a platform for people to showcase their talents and skills on a National level.

Introduction[edit]

Overview of Aaruush[edit]

One of the largest techno-management fests in the country, the dawn of Aaruush dates back to 2007 when the late President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam presided over its illustrious inauguration, laying the groundwork and opening the way for future milestones. The Events Team, which comprises the 16 Domains, is assisted by the 13 Committees, Team Envision, and Team Outreach. Aaruush organizes a wide range of events to cater to the needs of all the budding minds of the country.

History and Background[edit]

SRM University’s National Level Techno-Management Fest, AARUUSH quenches our thirst for innovative prerogatives. Since its founding in 2007, this idea of four graduating students has served as a stage for students to exhibit a fine fusion of creativity and technical skill. Aaruush has pioneered a transformation in both ideas and mindset by continuing to explore uncharted territory. The theme each year has made innovation an integral part of life by fusing distinctively technology, management, and societal challenges.

Aaruush '07[edit]

In the year of its inception in 2007, Aaruush was inaugurated by Our Late President, The Missile Man of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

"Seek and you shall find, when you feel everything is lost, Innovation will guide you through"

His words still echo in the minds of many and has taken Aaruush to the position where it stands now.

Aaruush '08[edit]

Aaruush transcended into a National Level Technological Fest in 2008. The fest had over 4500 participants.

Aaruush '09[edit]

Apart from achieving nationwide participation, Aaruush transformed into a Techno-Management Fest in the year 2009.

Aaruush '10[edit]

In the year 2010, Aaruush[3] had the privilege of hosting the reputed author Mr. Chetan Bhagat, for the Main Quiz. The Arjuna Tank of the Indian Army was also exhibited as a highlight of the Fest.

Aaruush '11[edit]

Aaruush received recognition[4] from organisations of international repute such as Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Defence Research and Development Organisation, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, WWF, European Space Agency among others, in 2011.

In the year 2012, Aaruush hosted eminent personalities like Mr. Rajan Anandan, the then MD of Google Inc. India and Mr. Richard Stallman, founder of the Free Software Foundation. It was the first year of Swastika, a National Level School Quiz Competition organised by team Aaruush.

Aaruush '13[edit]

The edition of 2013 saw experts of the stature of Dr. Tessy Thomas (The Missile Woman of India), Mr. Krispian Lawrence (co-founder, Ducere Technologies), Mr. Aakash Sinha(founder, CEO of Omnipresent Robot Technologies) with their Guest Lectures. Aaruush also organised its first hacktrack during this edition.

Aaruush '14[edit]

In the year 2014, the eighth edition hosted Dr. Krishnaswamy Kasturiangan (Former Chairman of ISRO) as the chief guest and also Mr. Sam Pitroda, who is widely regarded as the Father of Indian Telecommunication. The Arjun Mark - II Tank, which is a third generation main battle tank developed by India's Defence Research and Development Organisation was unveiled at the fest. The Valedictory Ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Eesa Mohammad Basatki.

Aaruush '15[edit]

Aaruush hosted a multitude of personalities like Dr. V. K. Saraswat, former Director General of DRDO (Chief Guest), Mr. Anand Kumar (founder of Super30), Miss Shradha Sharma(founder of YourStory), Sanjay and Shravan (two dynamic CEOs) in 2015. The audience was entertained by Agnee's exceptional performance.[5][6]

Aaruush '16[edit]

To commemorate it's 10th edition in 2016[7][8], Aaruush organised the first edition of T-Summit. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Mr. Dilip Chhabria, founder of DC Design. Eminent personalities like Srijan Pal Singh, Parveen Singhal, Vinay Singhal and Shashank Vaishnav (Co-founders of WittyFeed) enlightened the students with their experience. For the Music and Comedy Nights, Aaruush had the pleasure of hosting Nikhil D'Souza and Kenny Sebastian respectively.

Aaruush '17[edit]

The year 2017[9] saw Aaruush[10] receive the UNESCO Patronage. Along with the first edition of SRM ECO RUN, a multitude of other events took place. The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of Retd. General Dr. V.K. Singh. Mira Erda, the youngest female formula racing driver and Arjun Vajpai, the third youngest Indian to climb Mount Everest among many shared their experiences in the Guest Lecture series.

Aaruush '18[edit]

The 12th edition of Aaruush[11] [12][13] in 2018 was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Dr. A.S. Kiran Kumar, former Chairman, ISRO and Guest of Honour, Rear Admiral Alok Bhatnagar of the Indian Navy. The Guest Lecture series (now called Luminary Hours) was headlined by the likes of Mr. Prabhu Chawla, a Padma Bhushan recipient and Mr. Aseem Trivedi, the famous Indian political Cartoonist. Stand-Up Comedy was taken to new heights by Varun Thakur on Comedy Night, while the audience swayed to the melodies of Attva, The Non-Violinist Project and The Local Train in the Musical Night.

Aaruush '19[edit]

In the 13th edition of Aaruush in 2019, the excited audience saw the presence of Dr V Natarajan, Director of the Research and Innovation Centre in the Government of India under the Ministry of Defense as the chief guest. Aaruush had the pleasure of hosting Abhishek Upmanyu at the Bingo! Comedy Adda, this edition's comedy night, and Arjun Kanungo and Pakizah for the Musical Nights.

Aaruush '20[edit]

The year 2020 saw the first online edition of Aaruush during the COVID-19 pandemic. The esteemed Dr V K Aatre, the former Director General of the DRDO and a recipient of the Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan Awards, inaugurated it. This edition's comedy night boasted the famous Nishant Suri, renowned for his victory in the reality show's first season, Comicstaan[14]

Aaruush '21[edit]

The 15th edition and the 2nd online edition of Aaruush, Aaruush'21 saw eminent personalities such as Mr Shajo Titus, Mr Ninad Deshpande, Mrs Vritti Khawani and Mr Sidharth Subhramani for its UnConference Series and Mr Faisal Farooqui, Mr Subhrajit Chowdhury, Mr Ramesh G and Ms Nikita Baliarsingh for it's Industrial Conclave.

The 16th edition of Aaruush in the year 2022 saw it come back offline and host over 100 events in the span of 4 days. It was inaugurated by Dr Anil Kakodkar, Former Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India and recipient of the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan Awards. This edition had Vivek Desai, a famous mentalist and illusionist for the Pro Show, Raag and When Chai Met Toast for the Musical Nights, and renowned comedian Sahil Shah for the Comedy Night.

Organizing Institution (SRMIST)[edit]

Founded in 1985, SRM Institute of Science and Technology has grown and developed into one of the most prominent institutions of higher education in the country. AARUUSH is an annual techno-management festival organized by SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai, India. The primary objective of AARUUSH is to provide a platform for students to showcase their technical skills, creativity, and innovative ideas. It aims to foster a spirit of competitiveness, learning, and collaboration among participants. The event also encourages networking and interaction between students, industry professionals, and academia.

Target Audience[edit]

The event primarily targets students from various colleges and universities across India. Participants can be undergraduate and postgraduate students from  engineering, technology, science, and management. AARUUSH welcomes individuals with a passion for technology, innovation, and problem-solving.

AARUUSH is held vastly over the span of an year, culminating with extravagant four days. The exact duration and schedule may vary each year, but the festival usually takes place in the second half of the year. The event includes a wide range of activities, competitions, workshops, and lectures spread across the scheduled days.

During AARUUSH, participants have the opportunity to engage in technical events such as robotics competitions, coding contests, hackathons, and project exhibitions. Domain academics[edit]

When Aaruush talks about technology, it doesn't simply mean gadgets and cellphones; it also refers to the unsolved mystery of string theory, ways to hack the demon - COVID - 19, and the science behind the advancement of humans along with virtual reality. Aaruush also holds Domain Academics for this very reason, which are lectures organized by particular Aaruush Domains on fascinating subjects that they are particularly good at discussing.

These classes will all be led by and for the students. This highlights the many tech teams that are part of SRMIST since they get an opportunity to demonstrate their enthusiasm for technology.

Wednesday Speaks[edit]

Aaruush is not merely a cultural fest. By educating students about technology and raising their awareness of the miracles it can accomplish, it thrives as a techno-management festival. Aaruush, however, cannot be limited to just 3 days every year.

Aaruush hosts Wednesday Speaks as a way of disseminating knowledge year-round in order to address this deficit. Every Wednesday, Aaruush arranges unique workshops led by knowledgeable teachers in their fields of specialization, fostering greater contact between the two groups of people. Because there are no course or branch restrictions and that these sessions are open to all students, any one of them can learn more about numerous scientific disciplines.

Tech rally[edit]

The yearly Rally event in Aaruush showcases automobiles and motorcycles driven by experts. The event had demonstrated the rewards for taking a chance that technology can produce when it is given time and practice. The Tech Rally challenged nationally recognised professional drivers to pilot enormous vehicles propelled by cutting-edge engines and demonstrate the vehicles' limits by meticulously carrying out a meticulously planned and well-practiced rally at extremely high speeds. The SRMIST tech teams also showcased their creations, which included cars that students had created from the ground up and driven themselves. This accomplishment demonstrated the power of technology and the boundaries that could not be transcended by practice in today's autos.

T-Summit[15] is SRMIST's annual Technological Summit, an Open National Summit where colleges from across the nation send representatives to discuss and come up with concrete solutions to everyday issues that our society faces using technology. Representatives from 14 national colleges, including NITs and IITs, were present at the T-Summit the year before. And under the direction of esteemed dignitaries like Dr. Atul Gurtu, the entire Summit developed in a structured and competitive setting through the use of scheduled sessions.

Industrial conclave[edit]

The Industrial Conclave serves as a link between businesspeople, entrepreneurs, and students. A central agenda drives this forum's activities. IC seeks to gain a comprehensive understanding of the difficulties and dangers that budding entrepreneurs must deal with.

In today's technology-driven environment, the foundation of scientific advancement is industrial and technical expertise. Expos are occasions that are displayed at Aaruush. Team Aaruush presents "Aaruush Salutes: One Nation, One Republic" in honor of the Republic Day. A round table conference with NCC Cadets from all segments will feature them, expressing their insightful opinions and ideas on numerous themes at each edition. This conference plays a key part in bolstering a country's military and security.

Aaruush Alumni Talk[edit]

Team Aaruush conducts Aaruush Alumni Talks to bring together alumni and students who shared the same halls, shared similar experiences albeit at different times, and shared the same ideas. A location where future leaders can interact with current sculptures and learn about the tremendous distances those figures have traveled in their careers.

Aaruush Live[edit]

We at Aaruush occasionally hold an online session called "Aaruush Live", where we invite well-known celebrities or esteemed figures to share their success stories with us and offer us their insightful advice.

Unsung heroes[edit]

A celebration of those whose generosity, tenacity, and unshakeable character inspire us. We honor them for their unselfish commitment and selfless service, which serve as the catalyst for long-term advancement. We aim to bring a grin to someone's face who is working hard to make our lives comfortable by focusing our positivity in that direction.

Mindfulness[edit]

Constructive actions, emotions, and thoughts are stabilized by upholding good mental health and developing a space that promotes one's mental well-being. Aaruush's "Mindfulness" initiative seeks to de-stigmatize the way we see, handle, and identify mental health problems in our culture. It also aims to increase public awareness of mental health issues.

CAP[edit]

Campus Ambassador Programme. Aaruush's spokesperson is someone who holds the position of Campus Ambassador. Through Aaruush, one will have the opportunity to interact with a wide range of sectors, particularly those that offer unique insight into the developing field of digital marketing. The festival's numerous initiatives and events that promote broad participation are also made possible by the Ambassador Programme, which is a wonderful opportunity. One can broaden their perspectives and build their professional network through these activities.

Colosseum[edit]

Colosseum is a literary event for Aaruush. It includes a variety of tasks and difficulties that call on your literary abilities to help you pass the exams. Colosseum provides an opportunity for everyone to participate, grow, and learn new things in order to boost a student's English speaking and writing abilities.

An occasion where eloquent speakers in their respective fields of expertise deliver motivating addresses. In earlier issues of Aaruush, a handful of the numerous addresses were provided by:

Roadshow[edit]

Aaruush's roadshow consists of a series of presentations given in different locales. The purpose of this roadshow is to draw attention to our future events and activities, much like a sales pitch or promotion we are making.

Induction[edit]

During induction, Aaruush proudly welcomes the newly hired, assists with their adjustment, and makes sure they have the information and assistance they need to carry out their roles. To put it another way, it is a carefully thought out event to introduce newcomers to the culture within Aaruush and to the individuals who work there.

Flashmob[edit]

Aarush's flash mob is made up of a group of people who show up unexpectedly in a public area, put on a short performance, and then leave right away. This type of flash mob is frequently performed for fun, satire, or creative expression.

With several Rallies, functional models and a fantastic opportunity to explore Aaruush's 14 domains, the Aaruush Carnival offers a chance to see just a small portion of what the organization has to offer.

SRM Run 6.0[edit]

The youth of the nation came together for a cause during a 5.4 kilometre race that was completely dedicated to raising awareness about clean water and sanitation.[16][17]

Aaruush also broke the Limca World Record for "Mass Participation - Biggest Eco Run," in which 1181 participants made a commitment to only use renewable energy.

Every year on August 15th, this event is held and everyone is welcome to attend.

Unconference[edit]

Unconference (UC) is a platform that strives to foster communication between the school and the outside world while exposing students to marketing and commercial strategies. Eminent guests participate in an interactive session with the audience in this participation-driven forum. Depending on the subject under discussion, a constructive disclosure is held.

Workshop[edit]

Aaruush, a national level techno-management festival, strives to improve students' learning experiences through workshops by giving them hands-on exposure to the technology that are all around them. The goal is to make sure that pupils are knowledgeable about the emerging technology. This includes disassembling and reassembling a bike and an automobile, which gave the pupils an incredibly fascinating experience.

Nasa space apps challenge[edit]

Team Aaruush serves as the coordinator for the Chennai area of the NASA International Space Apps Challenge (Online). At Space Apps, we work to lower barriers to participation in possibilities related to space and science.

Online design challenge[edit]

The Online Design Challenge is a venue where participants may demonstrate their abilities and create CAD models on Solidworks for the many topics provided. Team Aaruush is proud to introduce it as a way to promote creativity and innovation among students.

Aerospanza[edit]

Team Aaruush is pleased to announce the inclusion of "Aerospanza," the nation's foremost aerospace event, as the newest event to the roster of flagship occasions. Through this challenge, they can interact with business executives and find practical solutions in a cutthroat environment. The newest group of aerospace engineers has the chance to take their concepts and build on the heritage of their forebears by launching them into a universe of unending possibilities.

Renderverse[edit]

"Render-Verse" is proudly presented by Team Aaruush whose primary goal is to evaluate a person's ability to create illustrations and edit videos through the creation of a logo reveal animation. By making them think creatively and cultivating the will to think beyond the box, animation helps pupils portray the real-life situations they meet on a daily basis and realize their full potential.

Eternal life[edit]

The "Eternal Life" is an opportunity for participants to develop and design areas that integrate research, clever thinking, and creative solutions. Eternal Life looks for creative minds that are passionate about "Technology for Wellbeing" in order to incorporate the use of renewable resources in the construction of a sustainable medical service building that serves as a support during a medical emergency.

Hybrid hack[edit]

In order to maximize system efficiency and improve energy supply balance, a hybrid renewable energy system, also known as hybrid power, often consists of two or more renewable energy sources. Participants must provide a blueprint and backdrop reference for their simulation models that use renewable energy sources to generate electricity.

X zone play[edit]

Participants at X-Zone can expect engaging and challenging experiences because the event is entirely non-technical. In essence, it's a gateway to the game world with countless opportunities for enjoyment.

Anigma[edit]

The first-ever animation and storyboarding competition Anigma is being offered by Domain Digital Design, and Team Aaruush invites all the imaginative people out there to participate. An 18-day process where you create a character and weave a tale.  

Anigma aims to engage all types of creative minds and lead them down undiscovered paths. In order to create an animated character and an accompanying animated story, participants must apply their creativity and design skills.

Canoe challenge 3.0[edit]

Aaruush hosts a national-level concrete canoe race that will take place over the course of 4-5 months. To compete, teams of 5–10 participants must design, analyze, model, and cast a lightweight concrete canoe that is 2 meters long in order to compete against other teams in a single rowing race. Throughout the allotted period, the event will progress in a number of stages.

Hack summit[edit]

Aaruush presents ‘Hack Summit’, a 36-hour hackathon with the goal of giving students a national stage to display their technical prowess. The ultimate test of an engineer's talent and stamina is a hackathon. A real test of the participants' technical expertise, creativity, time management, public speaking, and problem-solving skills. We have four separate challenges under Hack Summit that attempt to give traditional hackathons a holistic approach.
